Any good ideas for an outdoor wedding reception in July
It will be in a big backyard & we can do whatever we want as far as
decorating & such. It will be in the evening so it is not too hot for the
guests. Any good ideas as far as decorations, food, setup,
etc. would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch!
You could do lots of candles and mix in some of those
citronella ones to keep the bugs away. Have strings of lights hanging
overhead, or paper lanterns. You could maybe go with an upscale picnic
theme.
I agree with the first two comments. Lighting is key at night.
As unromantic as this is, I would probably consider bug zappers too if you
have alot of misquitos in the summer, lol. Alot of candles & maybe tiki
torches would look nice. I would definately keep the food inside & keep
the food casual (like finger foods) since outdoor weddings are less formal
than traditional weddings.
I too am getting married in the summer (august 1st) & I plan on having the dance floor outside, but allow guests to go inside as well. The older people in my family would probably rather be in the air conditioning. Good luck
keep it light & airy! lanterns, lots of candles, flowy sheer
fabric. some nice tiki torches would be a possiblity (they do have really
nice ones that would be appropriate for any style if you look!) long
tables that fit 15-20 people would make it feel more friendly since people
tend to gather in groups anyways. have fun! it is ur day, you will love it
no matter what happens & remember not to worry how everyone else will
think about it, how will you enjoy it? thats all that matters.
Lighting will be key! Ask yourself about the formality & the
colors & then go from there.
Use paper lanterns--you could even find a way to make ur own to save
some$$. On tables try varying heights of candles or some really cute
glass lanterns (Ikea.com has some great cheap stuff or check out a rental
